Revelstoked (Redux)

Wasn't it about 15 years ago that Powder Magazine (www.powdermag.com) first coined the term 'Revelstoked' on the front page, and inside talked excitedly about the possibilities of Mount Mackenzie morphing into a world-class resort area? Well Powder Magazine is back this week, a decade and a half later, to Mount Mackenzie and the new Revelstoke Mountain Resort; (www.revelstokemountainresort) not to expound on the amazing potential, but to experience the tangible!
Every comparative treatise and adage has been used to describe the new Revelstoke Mountain Resort, mostly by those sitting in offices located in Midtown Somewhere, so I won't even try to better them. And I can assure you that not one of the many thousands here for opening day need to spin a new yarn; while today was much anticipated, it could never be coined overrated. Skiers and Boarders were treated today to what I believe is the choicest lift-accessed skiing in the world; the depth and the breadth of what Revelstoke Mountain Resort offers is beyond compare.
Sure, you can drop names like Verbier, Chamonix, Whistler, Las Lenas, and Kitzbuhel; they all offer urbanites a degree of escape from the drone of the city, and they all have aspects of greatness. But for snow quality and consistency, vastness of terrain, and relative seclusion, Revelstoke Mountain Resort combines them all to offer something truly unique to the skiing world.
So I'll rest my tired legs, while the snow pelts down tonight to create a new mountain again tomorrow, and eagerly await my next Powder Magazine.
