The Simpson Property Group has designed their $1-billion Revelstoke Mountain Resort development to rival the all-season appeal of Whistler.
The September 29th release of 25 single-family estate building lots at the foot of Mount Mackenzie will up the ante by offering buyers the opportunity to build a custom home with access to private helicopter pads.
"This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for outdoor enthusiasts seeking an authentic resort lifestyle," says Ross McCredie, president and chief executive for Sotheby's International Realty Canada.
Revelstoke's appeal has already crossed the Rockies. The first phase release saw over $70-millon in sales in a single day with 50 per cent of the buyers coming from the United States and overseas.
Revelstoke Mountain already attracts over 8,000 helicopter and snowcat skiers each season. With the addition of over 100 runs, and 20 lifts, Revelstoke hopes to become the one-stop destination for helicopter, snowcat and lift skiing.
The single-family estate lots at Mackenzie Landing aim to offer buyers access to remote ski terrain from a custom home with resort amenities. With selective clearing of the mountain's mature forests to offer the best views from each lot, "Mackenzie Landing is, quite literally, going to change the landscape in Revelstoke," says Mr. McCredie. Each lot has a view of either the Columbia River, the Monashee mountain range or western sunsets.
While the ski resort itself - with a new $22-million gondola making it North America's longest ski-able vertical at 6,000 ft. - will open on December 22, the entire Revelstoke resort development will be completed over the next 15 years and will include hotels, town homes, condominiums, family lots, a golf course and pedestrian-friendly village with over 500,000 sq. ft. of commercial and retail space.
While the winter season boasts the most excitement, off season activities include, biking, hiking, golf and fishing in the various surrounding lakes and rivers.
